4 Aussie Brands You Need to Know (#4)
[MENSWEAR EDITION] The Australian fashion brands that are doing it right
In all honesty I love shopping for men more than for myself. It’s a lot harder to get creative with mens clothes (especially given Australia’s hotter climate) than it is to play around with dresses, and skirts, and tops etc. So for the lucky man in your life - whether that be a brother, lover, or dad - here are four Australian menswear brands you need to know.
1. Five By Flynn
An Australian wardrobe staple, Five By Flynn is where I buy all my brother’s clothes from. They’ve really nailed the coastal streetwear look with relaxed tailoring and the classic sunseeker shirt. Plus they also do excellent womenswear!
2. LÈ BAUS
Pronounced “le boss”, the brand has Persian roots and is designed Australia and made in Portugal. I visited their Paddington store this weekend, which is beautiful, and fell in love with the quality of their fabrics and duality of their designs. Great trousers and tailored shorts, and heavy cropped tees and oversized jackets. Honestly most pieces I would probably wear myself - like this denim shirt.
3. Payne Street
You know they’re going to do summer menswear right when they come from Brisbane. Payne Street does the basics right with thick 100% cotton tees, oversized pleated shirts, and fun checked shorts. Again, their pieces are quite versatile (I am a huge fan of their oversized shirts).
4. The Overthought
New to the scene, The Overthought is a Brisbane based label. They are taking on formal-streetwear with their first collection featuring a smart cotton button up and silk ties. My mate was wearing the Doppio Button-up the other night and I have to commend the quality of the design - it is the perfect boxy fit.
Australian brands are the first I look to for unique and forward-thinking designs. You can read part one, part two, and part three here. Plus I have plenty more Aussie brands to share so subscribe!
