Autumn at Kookai
The new pieces from Kookai I am purchasing for my Autumn wardrobe.
Autumn is upon us. I know this because I’ve started packing a light cardigan to work and reaching for my jeans again.
And even though I did some damage in the UK over the winter, I still want to update my wardrobe. More so the transitional pieces that could do with an update - not more sweaters or cardigans. I’m looking for the gaps in my wardrobe - a 3/4 length sleeve, a trusty blazer, a cool jacket for nights out. So naturally I browsed the Reformation website and my cart quickly totalled to over a thousand dollars.
Now I don’t have that kind of money to spend (as much as I loveee Ref basics). So I turned to what I believe to be the Aussie equivalent at a much more affordable price point - Kookai.
Kookai has great basics that, once invested in, can last you years. They are great quality and timeless in the sense you can wear them across seasons and throughout the years. So let’s deep dive into the eight pieces I am purchasing as we transition from summer to the cooler months.
1. Kora Collared Jacket
I am slowly growing my outerwear collection. I feel like I’m building a good mix of denim jackets, leather jackets, and statement bombers, but I’m lacking that simple versatile jacket. So, the Kora jacket solves that problem. It’s minimalistic in design, and the synched fit achieves the “tailored” aesthetic I was looking for. I also like that it comes in a dark chocolate - not black.
2. Mayfair Polo Top
Now this is the perfect top (imo) for autumn. You can wear it to work or dress it down with jeans for casual drinks with the girls. It’s a classic silhouette so you really can’t go wrong. One of the girls from work has the One Mile polo (which is out of stock) and I always think it elevates an outfit more than wearing a basic white tee does.
3. Kai Straight Leg Jean
I am deeply obsessed with the Still Here NYC Sports Jean in Pear. Like it’s actually not funny. Unfortunately, they are sold out, and unless I buy the DISSH Reagan jeans in Buff (which I probably will lol), I wont be getting my hands on them anytime soon. Moral of the story - I really love the idea of a denim that’s not a different shade of blue. I love a good black jean, but chocolate brown feels more suitable for the day time.
4. Ariel Waistband Pant
White pants. Oh. My. God. The actual bane of my existence. I have this toxic relationship where I where white pants with every outfit BUT I am the clumsiest person who will inevitably spill, sit in, or who knows how, get something on them. Anyways! I need a new pair of white trousers and these ones from Kookai are so flattering. I shall be wearing them to uni with with a nice white button up or a colourful sweater as it gets colder.
5. Jac Top
The perfect 3/4 sleeved top is what’s missing in my wardrobe. Having that extra length in the sleeves immediately signals “I’m dressing for autumn not summer”. And, let’s be real, it’s too warm in Brisbane to wear a long sleeve right now. The boat neck is super flattering and it hits the right spot below the elbows. Also more affordable alternative to the Reformation Santino Knit Top.
6. Ariel Low Rise Midi Skirt
I think it’s the influence of CBK and Kendall Jenner that has made me want a formal midi skirt. I also don’t want to stop wearing skirts just because it’s autumn, so I’m just going to opt for a lower hem instead. Again, the midi skirt can be worn to work or uni as well as out with the girls.
7. Ariel Contour Blazer
Full transparency - I thought I had found my it blazer. Perfectly oversized, well priced from Zara, but I lost it in Madrid on a night out lol. Since then, I have been searching for my next it blazer. And, although not oversized, this structured blazer is unbelievably gorgeous and so flattering. I think it offers that feminine edge that I had been missing in my outfits. I can wear it and look professional at work, yet styled correctly, can be quite sexy.
8. Maria Elastic Pant
I bought these in cream for the summer. I can confidently say they were the MVP of my wardrobe. It feels like you’re wearing sweatpants, such a low effort alternative to suit pants. Yet the way they sit and fall over your shoes ugh divine. So this autumn I will be buying the black version.
Now it’s time for me to actually go to Kookai and make my purchases!!
Ciao,
Ella
