Men I May Not Know, But Shoes… Shoes I Know
Carrie Bradshaw's most iconic shoes and the brands you need to know (& NET-A-PORTER wish list).
There is so much to love (and honestly to criticise) about Carrie Bradshaw. But one thing is for certain - she has the most desirable collection of heels. And while set in the late 90s early 2000s, her shoe collection is still fantasised today.
To me, wearing a pair of heels signifies age and elegance. You have to be grown up to wear heels. That’s why buying a pair of heels signifies a special milestone - first job, graduation, ect. It has long been my dream that I will move to NYC and my first purchase to celebrate will be a pair of Manolo Blahniks. Thanks, of course, to Carrie Bradshaw.
So I took a look at Carrie’s shoe collection over the six seasons of Sex and the City and curated my own fave brands to shop (including smaller ones), naturally scouring the endless pages of the NET-A-PORTER website for the most Carrie-esque heels.
The Iconic Pop of Blue
Manolo Blahnik Hangisi 90 embellished satin pumps
Keep it Classic
Manolo Blahnik Campari 90 patent leather pumps
Add Some Texture
Jimmy Choo Lilac Suede Sandal with Feather Embellishment
Mix With Metals
Manolo Blahnik Metallic Sedaraby Pumps
Now I can’t say I emulate Carrie’s style (I am certainly more of a Charlotte) however I love that she uses the heel as a finishing touch to her outfits. I myself am more of a fan of a monochromatic look with a fun heel.
And right now I can’t really afford to buy a pair of Manolo’s soooo in the meantime I shall be purchasing fun heels elsewhere.
SUKI GIRL
With the tagline “Born in Melbourne, Designed in Chicago”, Lexi and Tara have designed the coolest pair of heels. Their designs tick both boxes on the pattern and colour front - my fave pair is The Katherine with zebra print and a soft baby blue trimming. (I actually had no idea SUKI GIRL had Australian roots until checking their website - so now I love them even more!!)
Alohas
I can’t speak more highly of a brand than Alohas. Their boots have lasted me a lifetime and four years on still get complimented on the daily! And their heels are equally as compliment-able — Joelle Black Patent Leather Pumps to keep it classic.
Reformation
While not a small brand, I still value Ref’s commitment to sustainability and you cannot deny they have an epic shoe collection. They have so many fun patterned heels, and strappy heels, and even the most gorgeous heels with a bow (!!). Plus the Wilda Kitten Mule is the perfect silver heel to mix up a monochromatic outfit.
Dolce Vita
Dolce Vita always comes out with the coolest heels—and rightfully so, originating from the Lower East Side of Carrie’s home, NYC. I’m currently loving their Daksie Heel lined with gem stones.
And if you’re reading this and have a lot more spending money than me - then here is my NET-A-PORTER wishlist <333
