The Weekend Edition. 02
The lowdown on my week, what I've been reading, watching and learning, plus my opinion on shopping for a summer wardrobe.
Sunday Snippets
Last week was super hectic! It was my final week at my previous job & my first week at my next. A big win was my article on Madrid being published in print! (You can read the digital extend here).
The local fashion scene is definitely having a moment - with Payne Street hosting a neighbourhood night. I already had my eye on the check shirt and seeing it in person really affirmed the desire to buy it - great quality, would defs recommend as a gift!
Also randomly, I have been loving making my matcha each morning! I finally found a powder I really love and it’s actually from a local market.
Some highlights as follows:

Sunday Saves & Shopping
I regard myself as a very considered shopper. I am not one to impulse shop online and go a long time between buying pieces. Ironically I buy more clothes for my brother than I do myself - partly because I know I can steal it back, partly because I love finding new menswear brands, and partly because I am SO indecisive that I only want to by pieces that will really be loved.
In saying that, I feel like it’s time to look into making some new purchases. I have a trip to London coming up in November and I will be spending a month in really cold winter - so I want to wait to shop til I am over there BUT it is summer in Australia and I cannot survive 100 degree heat wearing jeans.
Summer shopping is not my forte. I have always felt out of place dressing in Aussie summer because I am not one for the denim shorts and flimsy linen tops. So I have been scouring Pinterest for appropriate, elevated pieces to add to my summer wardrobe. Which has led me to shop that coastal breezy look that Aussie brand, Assembly Label, does so well.

Also super inspired by Ari (@arigoldwasser on tiktok) atm.

Monday Moodboad:
Next Week: Focusing on taking everything as it comes & not trying to think so far into the future!!!!!
Soundtrack
This week’s soundtrack has consisted of a lot of Olivia Dean, Zen Mind Guided Meditations, and of course, Role Model’s SNL performance.
Also really loved this episode with Dom Elissa on the power of a gratitude practice.
Stories & Shows
New celebrity crush alert! I started watching House of Guinness because obviously Louis Partridge is the star, but safe to say Anthony Boyle surprised me. Aside from the cast, the story itself was incredible. I am a sucker for a historical retelling and personally loved the touch of modern music (though felt Inhaler was missing).
I waited to listen to this episode of Therapuss because I had to see Kaia on screen. She is so gorgeous, smart, and hilarious. 10/10 episode, second only to Role Model.
And in terms of reading… this week has been super heavy at uni - lots of law cases, but some poetry (Oodgeroo Noonuccal’s My People) and short stories (Henry Lawson) has made it a lot more entertaining. It’s getting to the end of the semester where the readings from here on should become shorter. I actually watched Once Upon a Time in the West for my class on Constructing the West. Honestly, have to say I really enjoyed watching it.

Every Monday at 8:30am an issue of Mode Office hits my inbox. It’s the first thing I read to set myself up for the work week. The girls behind the publication, Adrianna & Maddi, provide a rundown of all the news in fashion, finance, pop culture, and honestly anything relevant happening around the globe.
Paris Fashion Week also came to an end last week, and let’s be real - while I love watching the runways, I simply am not at the stage in life where I can purchase these looks (…yet). So, I love analysing the common trends across shows - especially when data, but make it fashion does it for me! From there, I can see what I actually love about the look and try to recreate it with what is in my wardrobe. I really enjoyed reading The RealGirl’s article on finding the trends second hand - big fan of shopping vintage.
Signing off,
Ella xx
