Weekend Edition. 07
New month, new art, and new soundtracks.
Sunday Snippets
Happy first week of April!!! Such an exciting month and also the start of Q2, so new goals + new focus… focus = the word of the month. This week has felt like week 10 in high school. Lots of things coming to an end, including the last week of my honours seminar (yay!!) Plenty of late night uni sessions and plentyyyy of time in the sun.

Sunday Saves and Shopping
Lately, I have been building my repository of small international brands. This week I have come across many cool brands making bags (?!). Highly encourage you to take a look at @melissenewyork’s page if you want a unique (and very bedazzled) knot bag.
Everything that is on my wish list can be found here.

Soundtrack
Listened to this really great episode on how hard work, consistency, and staying ahead of the trends (looking at what’s actually happening on the streets) can lead to success.
I am loving “This Is Happening” by LCD Soundsystem. The sheer number of 10 year look back reviews prove the lasting legacy of the album. Its electronic beat makes it so danceable (which is why Dance Yrself Clean is by far my favourite). I’ve also come to learn that it’s regarded as a genre defining album and has some pretty iconic lyrics.
‘Never change, never change, never change, this is why I fell in love’ and ‘I can change, I can change, I can change, if it helps you fall in love’
Every song makes you want to boogie!! So overall 10/10 album.
^^^ One more song I can’t stop playing on repeat!!
Stories & Shows
One thing about me is I love to send my friends substack articles that made me think of them. On Valentines’ Day I read such a fitting article which I have since sent to many friends.
This week, my friend turned to me and told me that I should take my own advice, and read the article again. So I did.
What’s funny is the tarot card reading I mentioned last week was all about breaking down those four walls and releasing the need for security and having everything figured out. I think life is funny like that - I could read a book ten times and take something new from it each read.

Found this piece of art on my Pinterest scroll:
Did a quick reverse image google search and learnt it’s a famous painting by Gustav Klimt. Despite the brilliant colours of the painting, Hope II represents a pregnant woman seemingly mourning the tragic fate of her unborn child. As described by MoMA, Klimt was inspired by “Byzantine art, Mycenaean metalwork, Persian rugs and miniatures, the mosaics of the Ravenna churches, and Japanese screens”. I love how you can see some of these influences come together to inform his artistic style.

(1) The coolest shell bag by an Aussie brand Sun Diaries based in Melbourne.
(2) The absolute excitement I experienced hitting double digits on substack!!
(3) Tying sweaters around the waist is so back + I love the colour combo.
Keeping it short bc I have many more readings to complete!
